motive observes how AI assistants answer questions about brands. To do that it needs very little about people: who you are, so you can sign in, and which workspace you belong to. This page says what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and how to reach us.

1. Who is responsible

The data controller is Simone Bova, sole trader (ditta individuale), VAT number 13319120013, Via Fratelli Fornaca 26, 10142 Torino, Italy.

For anything about your data, write to founders@yempik.ai.

2. What we collect

  • Account. Your name, email address and profile picture, from the sign-in you choose (email or Google), and the name of your organization and your role in it.
  • Workspace content. The brands you add, their websites, competitors and questions, your review decisions, and which member started or changed what.
  • Observations. The questions motive asks AI assistants, their answers and the sources they cite. These describe brands, not people.
  • Technical data. The session cookies that keep you signed in, and the request logs our hosting providers keep to run and secure the service.

We do not use analytics or advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share your data for advertising.

3. Why, and on what legal basis

  • To provide motive to you and your organization: sign-in, workspaces, observations, results. Basis: performance of the contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • To keep it secure and accountable, for example recording which member started a run. Basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • To meet legal obligations, such as tax records. Basis: legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).

motive makes no automated decisions about people that have legal or similarly significant effects.

4. AI assistants

To observe answers, motive sends questions about a brand, and the public details of that brand, to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Perplexity through their business APIs. It never sends your account details to them.

5. Who helps us run motive

These providers process data on our behalf, only to deliver the service:

  • Clerk: sign-in and accounts.
  • Convex: database and backend.
  • Vercel: website hosting.
  • OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity: the AI assistants motive observes (section 4).
  • ScrapeGraph: reads the public pages of a brand's website when our own reader cannot.

Some of these providers process data outside the European Union, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer relies on the safeguards of GDPR Chapter V, such as an adequacy decision or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

6. How long we keep it

  • Account and workspace data: while your account or workspace exists.
  • Observed answers: for the life of the workspace. They are its history of what AI assistants said, which is the point of the service.
  • Raw provider responses, kept to check and debug observations: deleted automatically after 30 days.

When you ask us to delete your account or a workspace, we delete it within 30 days, except what the law requires us to keep.

7. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or export your personal data, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to founders@yempik.ai; we answer within one month.

You can also lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

8. Cookies

motive sets only the cookies needed to keep you signed in (from Clerk). They are strictly necessary, so they need no consent. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.

9. Changes

When this notice changes, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your data, we tell signed-in users before it applies.
